The deposed Apetumodu of Ipetumodu, Oba Joseph Oloyede, has filed a lawsuit against Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke to block plans to fill his vacant stool.
The legal challenge targets the state’s move to initiate the selection process for a successor in the Ipetumodu kingdom. Oloyede’s legal team contends that his removal lacked legal grounding under state chieftaincy laws.
During the proceedings, Justice Dapo Adeniji adjourned the case to January 21, 2027. The court also ordered that fresh hearing notices be issued and served to all defendants named in the suit.
State officials have yet to file a formal defense statement regarding the injunction. The legal dispute leaves the royal stool vacant as the court considers the validity of the dethronement.
