Nigeria Customs Service Appoints Mamman Ali Acting Comptroller for Adamawa-Taraba Command
Nov. 3, 2026 | Updated 2:08 am GMT
The Nigeria Customs Service has appointed Deputy Comptroller Mamman Ali as the acting area comptroller of the Adamawa and Taraba Command.
Ali steps into the role following the promotion of former command head Mohammed Tako to the rank of Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs. Prior to his new posting, Ali served as the coordinator of the customs anti-smuggling unit, Operation Whirlwind, in Zone E.
The transition occurs as regional commands face heightened pressures to curb cross-border smuggling and secure revenue generation targets across northeastern trade corridors. Under Tako’s previous tenure, the command recorded significant seizures and anti-smuggling enforcement actions.
Command officials noted that the operational handover aims to maintain continuity in border surveillance and anti-smuggling operations across the porous frontiers bordering neighboring countries.
