Telecommunications giant MTN Group expanded its digital entertainment footprint on Oct. 29, 2026, debuting its first original streaming series during the MIP Africa content market.
The romantic comedy series, titled “100 Reasons to Stay Single in Lagos,” marks the initial original production for the telecom company’s streaming service, MTN One TV. Consequently, the release targets viewers across South Africa, Ghana, and Zambia, with additional regional rollouts scheduled under MTN’s Ambition 2030 digital expansion framework.
Showrunner Mimi Bartels led the pan-African production, which features talent from Nigeria, South Africa, and Ghana. The plot follows three housemates navigating modern dating complexities, social expectations, and relationship hurdles in Lagos.
Nigerian filmmaker Adeniyi Joseph Omobulejo directed the series while also serving as director of photography and online editor. Omobulejo credited Bartels for providing creative autonomy throughout the filming process. Meanwhile, South African actor Bohang Moeko features among the international cast.
Burak Akinci, chief executive of MTN Digital Services, emphasized that the corporate platform aims to back authentic local narratives. Moreover, MTN executive Selorm Adadevoh noted that the service intends to connect African audiences directly with localized stories while building sustainable commercial pathways for regional creators.
The production premiere coincided with MTN serving as a platinum sponsor at MIP Africa 2026. Furthermore, company executives hosted structured pitching sessions at the Cape Town gathering, offering independent African producers direct access to platform distribution and project financing.
